You may have already read our blog on the upcoming Light Night 2014 which takes place on Friday 28 February. The festival, organised by Nottingham City Council in association with restaurants, shops and attractions around the city, promises a glowing programme of events for the whole family. On the night you can take a short walk out of the city centre to Sneinton Market where there will be a host of attractions including live music, a roller rink, an open bar, food and craft stalls, face painting and lantern parade. The communities of Sneinton and St Ann’s have worked with City Arts, the Renewal Trust and the SEND project to make beautiful willow lanterns especially for the night.  Two processions from the Chase and Greenway centres will arrive at Sneinton Market at 6.30pm. Puppets and live musicians will accompany the trail to join the fun on the market-place. On the live stage on the Square, you will be able to enjoy live music from fresh Nottingham talent hosted by Red Rox Projects, who are performing from 5.30pm till 11pm. How are your roller skating skills? Show off your moves at the undercover Roller Rink, which has been organised and fundraised by Sneinton Market Action Community. Or if you’d rather leave it to the professionals, stand back and watch The Hellfire Harlots Roller Darby girls display their spectacular techniques. Skating will be £2 for 40 minutes. As you stroll around the atmospheric setting, take your pick at one of the many mouth-watering food and refreshment stalls, such as Becky’s Global Kitchen, and then wash down your food with a tasty tipple at the licensed bar by Bunker Hill. Wendy, Director of Sneinton Market Community Traders Group, said: “The night will be amazing as we have so much going on for the community. It’s great that Sneinton Market is expanding and with events like Light Night bringing together the local community, we are very enthusiastic about the market’s future as it is once again becoming a thriving place to be.” For a full programme of events, head over to the Light Night website.
