Nottingham Comedy Festival's Elliott Bower tells why it's no joke that Nottingham is the place for a barrel of laughs this year. Comedy is...well quite literally a funny business! Hundreds of comedians at all levels entertain packed and sometimes not so packed comedy clubs up and down the country just to get the thrill of making an audience laugh and hoping one day to make enough money to do comedy for a living and progress onto top TV shows such as ‘Mock The Week’ or ‘Live at the Apollo’ or even the top prize of the best show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and launch themselves into stardom. As promoters in the industry we are no different, we stop at nothing to get the best venues, equipment and of course comedians. To us, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival is our idea of heaven as all our comedy friends are up there and comedy shows take place day and night for just over three weeks in one of the most beautiful cities in the world! I know what you're thinking man I wish I could go there but I don't have the time or money and I like Nottingham I wish there was something like that happening here! Well not to worry NCF Comedy bring not just a taster but a whole mouthful of what the Edinburgh Fringe has to offer right into our amazing city and beyond parts of Nottinghamshire with the Nottingham Comedy Festival which takes place the last week of every September. For now we would like to turn you to the attention of our Edinburgh preview specials which will be taking place at The Canalhouse, Nottingham in July. Edinburgh preview shows give comedians the opportunity to road test and polish their show's ready for Edinburgh for the chance to be seen by important people such TV producers, comedy agencies and me etc.  Already we have had the fantastic Nathan Caton, Chris Martin and Jeff Leach. Coming up in July we have more top names strutting their stuff to entertain the masses at Canalhouse. We are delighted to have star of ‘Live at the Apollo’ and ‘Michael Mcintyre's Comedy Roadshow’ Andrew Lawrence on our stage! We have been to Andrew's last three shows and they have all been funny, energetic and mesmerising A clip of him at Live at the Apollo can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkynitD7Rr0 Ellie Taylor has been going from strength to strength since appearing on ITV1's ‘Show Me The Funny’ back in 2011. Since then the former model has been a presenter on ‘Snog Marry Avoid’, appeared on ‘Fake Reaction’ and ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’. Now we've done the maths, at the Edinburgh Fringe these 4 shows would cost you at least £10 each and you also have the hassle of travelling to a different location, plus all that travel up to Edinburgh itself. Believe me we do the 5 hour trip to and from every year BUT we are giving you these shows in the SAME venue for the same quality and the steal price of just £5! Tickets can be purchased through Experience Nottingham - on their website or from the tourism centre.  Full details can be found on our website: www.ncfcomedy.co.uk (check out our website for even more great shows and previews elsewhere in the region). Thank you very much indeed for reading this and we very much look forward to seeing you at one of our shows very soon. You will not be disappointed by the rich quality of comedy we offer at such a cheap price!
