In today's guest blog, Sarah Payne from the Tourist Information Centre in Southwell writes about the excitement caused when TV crews descended on the town to film a new episode of Flog it! which will be aired on Friday afternoon.  Earlier this year BBC’s antique shop Flog It visited Southwell to film for its forthcoming series. The interest and range of items brought to the experts was of such interest and high quality that not one but five programmes were made. The first of these will be shown on BBC1 this Friday (26th September) at 4.30pm. Filming took place in Southwell Minster in January when 1,320 people queued with everything from paintings to soft toys in the hope of being lucky enough to appear on this much loved show. The Minster was later informed that attendance in Southwell broke all previous records for the programme. Presenter Paul Martin chatted to visitors in between filming and he and the experts were delighted by the variety of objects presented to them. Tune in on Friday and follow the stories of local residents and their treasures as they travel from attics and garden sheds to the auction room. Further information about the show is available on the BBC website. And if seeing Southwell on screen has inspired you then why not take a trip there this weekend? Take a tour of the Minster and admire the Norman stonework before stopping at the Minster Refectory for a cup of tea and delicious homemade cake.
