It’s an exceptionally busy time of the year for Mr Santa Claus and his elves so my little family and I were delighted to have the opportunity to meet with the man himself in his exclusive 5D grotto at Intu Broadmarsh last weekend. Upon our arrival we were greeted by two of Santa’s special elves who booked us into what would be for all of us our first 5D experience. As the excitement grew my two boys, aged three and six, were entertained and fascinated by the animatronics elves especially the very cheeky one who kept popping out of his hiding place inside a barrel. We were soon ushered into the 5D grotto where another one of Santa’s happy elves provided each of the audience with a pair of 3D glasses for the film we were about to watch and explained the 5th dimension of the experience. Without giving too much away we were each about to become festive film stars and find ourselves transported into the movie itself much to the delight of my boys. Just before the movie was ready to start the audience were also given a little demonstration on the important actions we needed to do during the film to help it’s star Ellie the Elf on her special mission to save Christmas including the secret elf signal. The 3D film set in the North Pole was a great success including 4D snow and the special 5D addition. So, did Ellie the Elf manage to save Christmas? You’ll have to see for yourself. After the movie we were all led into Santa’s very own Grotto filled with baskets of wrapped gifts. We then spotted the familiar black boots, long white beard and the red fabric of Santa’s Claus luxurious suit. Soon it was our boys turn to let Santa know they had been good all year (honest!) and tell him what they would like him to bring them on Christmas morning. They were then each presented with a small gift and the opportunity to have photograph taken with the man in red himself providing more memories of this unique experience, which is a modern twist on the traditional spirit of Christmas. The 5D grotto is open until Christmas Eve. To avoid disappointment book online. Don't forget to visit Broadmarsh this Friday for Black Friday deals.
