Step back in Time for Tea

Fancy doing some time travel while in Nottinghamshire? Step back into the 1940s at the vintage themed tea room, Time for Tea, in Beeston, Nottingham. Housed in a cosy Victorian terrace, Time for Tea sets the scene of times gone by with 1940s music, staff in 1940s dress, and English tea room classics such as homemade soups, hearty sandwiches, cream teas and delicious cakes baked fresh daily. In the lead-up to Christmas, my friend Kerry and I decided to pay the tea room a visit one Saturday – we both love cake and were keen to try this new gem in the town centre of Beeston. The staff were very helpful and attentive, especially considering we had my lively two year old in tow! The menu is great value and full of delicious options, and we both opted to start with warming soups, served with fresh bread and butter on 1940s crockery. The real highlight though was the cakes! Time for Tea always has an impressive array available, and we really did struggle to choose as they all looked so amazing. In the end, I went for the Salted Caramel Cake and Kerry chose the Carrot Cake. Both were absolutely delightful, and they were washed down with pots of freshly brewed loose-leaf tea. The Victorian Christmas tree in the corner added an extra special feel to our visit, and I can’t wait to return and try some more of the homemade goodies – recently they’ve featured ginger bread, red velvet cake and orange blossom cake – all of these look superb!
