Broadway will launch its new exhibition space and a series of workshops this May, starting with a collaboration with local renowned photographer, Ashley Bird. The space will complement Broadway’s four screens, two Cafebars, and offices for creative professionals. From Saturday 14 May, the Broadway Gallery will be home to Colour&Light, an exhibition of some of Ashley Bird’s work. The show will feature a selection of colour portraits, including local figures and performers, as well as some live music photos, including the likes of Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys, and Rihanna. The exhibition will take place at the Broadway Gallery – a new multi-function space within Broadway. To complement the exhibition, Ashley Bird will also host a photography workshop on Saturday 21 May at Broadway. ‘Demystifying the DSLR!’ is an entry-level workshop for owners of DSLR, bridge or compact system cameras. The day-long session will be the first in a series of practical workshops at Broadway, including further sessions on photography. The workshops will complement Broadway’s regular film courses by offering more hands-on opportunities to learn. Broadway is particularly delighted to collaborate with Ashley Bird for this launch, one of many very talented local artists whose work has travelled far beyond our region. He is a former music journalist (and editor of Kerrang! magazine) who has successfully transitioned his career from the written word to photography. Ashley lives in Nottingham and is available for interviews. Colour&Light will take place at the Broadway Gallery from Saturday 14 May until Friday 20 May.
