Over 700 runners will take to the streets of Nottingham in brightly coloured t-shirts on Friday 1 July for the start of the UK leg of the Run 5.30 World Tour. Run 5.30 is a 5km non-competitive run/walk around the deserted streets of Nottingham at 5.30am on a Friday morning. With Nottingham having been chosen as the first international city to host the event in 2015, it became clear that there is a real appetite for the continental event in Britain. Over 500 people took part in the inaugural event, and this year the event returns to the city and is expanding throughout the East Midlands with events in Leicester and Derby throughout July. Engaged to deliver the event for a second year running, Beeston based company Perfect Motion are excited to be bringing Run 5.30 back to their home city. Nik Emmonds, Event Director at Perfect Motion said: “We’re delighted to be bringing this event back to Nottingham after a brilliant first outing last year. Seeing swathes of people taking to the streets is quite a sight and a wonderful way to start the day so we can’t wait to see it again. “This event isn’t about getting to the finish first, it’s about experiencing the city in a different light and we hope that everyone enjoys doing just that.” This year’s route will again take runners from Old Market Square past landmarks including Nottingham Castle and Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem. At the end of the 5km, participants will be met by bright cheering faces and a healthy fruit breakfast – the perfect way to start a Friday. Entry is open online until 5pm on Thursday 30th June 2016 and all entrants will receive a complimentary Run 5.30 t-shirt and medal: www.run530.com/uk
