It's #NationalBurgerDay tomorrow and Notts certainly knows how to celebrate the occasion. Here's our round-up of unbeatable burgers from the city and county.
Annie's Burger Shack
Annie's all-American freehouse restaurant has been something of an Nottingham institution since opening in 2013. The original menu includes the Elvis - a peanut butter and jelly smothered burger inspired by the King himself, and the Vermonter, which comes topped with pancakes soaked in maple syrup. What's more, veggies and vegans are fully catered for and can choose from the same menu as meat-eaters.
Missoula Montana
Another taste of USA to be found in the Lace Market area of the city, the burgers at Missoula Montana Bar and Grill are handcrafted and served the with fries and a brioche bun. You can have yours topped with with swiss cheese, peppercorn sauce, blue cheese, crispy bacon, pulled pork and even avocado and mango.
Oaks
Burgers are undoubtedly one of the things that Oaks do best. All meat on the menu is sourced from local Nottinghamshire suppliers and takes on the smoky flavour from the restaurant's custom built wood-fired grill. The meat-free options are just as tasty too, with a choice of soft shell crab and portabello mushroom with avocado and aubergine to sandwich between your burger bun.
Coast to Coast
Coast to Coast are taking National Burger Day seriously with all burgers on offer for £9.95. There's an extensive list of classic and adventurous combinations to choose from or you can even opt to try even three different mini burgers if you can't decide.
Cafe Sobar
Cafe Sobar's burgers are delicious whether they are in classic, cheese, halloumi or grilled cajun chicken form. If you feel like mixing things up a bit, you can ask on the day for the Guest Burger and opt for chunky chips and curly fries on the side.
Southbank City
The chunky gastro-pub style burger at the new Southbank City bar earned itself a place in blogger My Lifelong Holiday's top 5 burgers. Served the traditional way with proper fries and coleslaw, what's not to love?

If you like your burger with a touch of elegance, Sinatra's grill menu includes a steak burger with caramelised onion and goat's cheese, as well as venison, lamb, chicken and halloumi varieties, all served with deliciously sophisticated accompaniments.
