£1 Comedy Night – Award Winning Show

Guest blog from NCF Comedy. In 2015 we at NCF Comedy were very flattered to pick up the Open Mic Comedy Award (East Midlands) at the Midlands Comedy Award show in Birmingham. This year on the back of that award we aimed to make our £1 Comedy Night, held at the Canalhouse Nottingham, better by attracting more established acts and going twice a month with the shows. On Sunday the 27th of November we did just that as Canalhouse was chosen to host the Midlands Comedy Awards and in our very own backyard we at NCF Comedy took the award for the entire Midlands for Best Open Mic Night. We were delighted and thankful for the public who voted for us and we now aim to make the night go from strength to strength and hopefully pick up the award again next year. One of the best things we have about this night is the price - just £1. Normally comedy costs a lot more than then but we feel mid-week in our grand city of Nottingham people are looking for something to do that is cheap and cheerful. We provide just that by charging a quid yet it is still top quality. It has been described by Notts Comedy Reviewer Peter Fox as his favourite night as it can be a pick and mix regarding acts who can range from newer acts looking to test the waters, local up and coming acts looking for stage time and professional acts trying out new material. As well as making sure the night runs in a warm friendly manner we try to put on all different styles of stand-up such as one-liners, observational, absurd, alternative and interactive. Our final night this year is our Christmas special which is headlined by local comedian Scott Bennett on the 14th of December and then we will be back with a bang in the New Year on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of January.
