The Railway at Lowdham

About

Situated in the picturesque village of Lowdham, between Nottingham and the historic minster town of Southwell, The Railway is a multi award winning independent gastro pub, proudly owned by The Secret Pub Company. With a history dating back to 1876, this much loved village pub combines traditional charm with a contemporary dining experience.

Following an extensive refurbishment in 2017, The Railway has been transformed into a welcoming destination while retaining its character and village pub atmosphere. At the heart of the pub is a traditional bar, complemented by low ceilings, wooden floors, interesting features and a cosy log fire during the winter months. In the warmer weather, guests can enjoy the sunny garden terrace.

The Railway offers an impressive selection of five real ales, alongside a carefully curated wine list sourced from an independent, family owned supplier, with all wines bottled at source and available by the glass. The pub also hosts a varied calendar of events throughout the year, offering something for everyone.

Food is a key part of the experience, with the kitchen team creating fresh, imaginative dishes using the finest seasonal ingredients, all prepared to a high standard. Combined with friendly, attentive service and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, The Railway offers an enjoyable experience for both locals and visitors.

With an impressive collection of nine major industry awards, including Best Pub in the East Midlands at the National Pub & Bar Awards in 2018 and BII Licensees of the Year in 2019, 2020 and 2021, The Railway has firmly established itself as one of the region's leading independent pubs.
