17th Century AA 4-Star Hotel with Rosette, which has been passionately restored throughout by local owners and now has 59 individually styled rooms, including 4-posters, four stunning suites and two luxury lodges. 

Traditional period features, antiques and rich furnishings are complemented with contemporary bathrooms, power showers, flatscreen tvs and fluffy duvets.

Relax on comfy leather sofas by crackling log fires in the winter or enjoy cocktails on the Terrace Bar in formal gardens during the summer! Renowned for traditional Sunday lunch and also Afternoon Teas served on lovely vintage china.

Road Directions

From A1 South : Approx 3.5 miles after J34 Blyth, take small left exit signed Barnby Moor. Turn left at the end of the road and the hotel is diagonally opposite at the next T-junction.

From A1 North : Exit at A620 signed Ranby & Retford. Turn left at the end of the sliproad and follow road past Worksop College Preparatory School for approx 1 mil, then take next left to Barnby Moor - small sign. Follow this road for approx 2½ miles and the hotel is diagonally opposite at next T-junction.

Public Transport Directions

By Rail : Retford Station is on the Kings Cross~Edinburgh Mainline and is 4 miles away. Arrangements for taxis can be made by the hotel upon request.

By Air : Robin Hood Airport is 11 miles away and East Midlands 50 miles.

    The ‘Make the Most of Summer’ package includes the Introduction to Ice Cream Making course at the School, based in the former fire stables in a beautiful secluded countryside setting, in the midst of the Welbeck Estate, Nottinghamshire.

    The offer includes an overnight stay and traditional English breakfast at the nearby Ye Olde Bell Hotel in the rural village of Barnby Moor.

    The course is delivered by tutor Kitty Travers, founder of London’s La Grotta Ices, renowned for her creative use of flavour, mastery of technique and commitment to natural ingredients, making her the go-to modern ice cream expert in the UK.

    The hotel is on the borders of Nottinghamshire, Yorkshire and Lincolnshire has been lovingly restored and renovated by its current owners. It features 59 beautiful rooms, suites and lodges, all individually styled with period furniture, luxurious fabrics and contemporary bathrooms.

    The course is being offered at £100 when booked with the hotel (normally priced at £145); Ye Olde Bell are offering special room rates of £119 double/twin; £89 single per night including full English breakfast.
