200 Degrees Coffee are independent speciality coffee roasters, purveyors of unique coffee shops, and unashamed coffee geeks.
Their aim is to serve the perfect cup of coffee and they ship the finest
green beans from Rainforest Alliance farms back to the UK where
tweed-clad artisans hand roast them at 200° Centigrade (hence the name) for a full bodied, smoother taste.
The roast house can be found on Meadow Lane in Nottingham, close to Trent Bridge and a few yards from the river itself. It’s been their home since 2012 and they’ve grown out of all recognition from three people huddled in the corner of a very big, cold room to a company of 200 people with 11 shops and 5 barista schools. They wholesale beans to numerous bars, offices, hotels and coffee shops and also supply the coffee served at Restaurant Sat Bains.
“We think that enjoying quality coffee is not just about taste; it’s also about doing all the other things the right way, and that philosophy guides every aspect of our company. We believe in being an ethical, sustainable business and treating everyone, including our suppliers, with respect.”
Tom Vincent MD
Barista School
It's at the Nottingham shop that 200 Degrees' coffee gurus pass on their knowledge through a wide range of barista courses that are an informal and informative way to learn how to make a great coffee. The school can be found above the 200 Degrees' coffee shop in Nottingham's Flying Horse Walk.
There's a science to the art of coffee, and 200 Degrees teach baristas and enthusiasts alike how to simply drink better coffee at home or produce latte art like a seasoned pro.
Barista courses cover everything from basic home brewing methods, through to how to operate a professional espresso machine and advanced latte art.
Dates, times, and booking are available on the 200 Degrees website.
Courses available include:
- Homebrew: £45
- Basic Barista: £75
- Intermediate Barista: £85
- Latte Art: £95
