Join this creative writing workshop exploring Byron's bears and other animals. Lord Byron kept a bear while he was a student at Trinity College. It was said he purchased the bear in defiance of the rules that banned students from keeping dogs in college. In Italy it is said he lived with ten horses, eight enormous dogs, three monkeys, five cats, an eagle, a crow, and a falcon. What it would it be like to live with a bear, and other animals, as Byron did?
Also discover the extraordinary history of bears in Nottingham researched by Professor Hannah O'Regan and the Box Office Bears team.
These bear-tastic stories will be a springboard for a creative writing workshop open to all levels of writing experience. Facilitated by Angela Clerkin (of ClerkinWorks), it will be jam-packed with bear facts, tai chi, conversations and writing exercises.
Angela is a Writer and Theatre Maker, her highly acclaimed plays have toured the UK, Portugal and Brazil, and she has written short stories, screenplays and comedy sketches for radio and the stage. Angela was a Creative Engagement Fellow at Leicester University in 2021/22 – running a creative writing project for women and non-binary people called This Is Me.
