12 September 2018, 7.30pm - 10.30pm
Venue: Cock and Hoop Pub
Entry is £2 per person
Crosswords is a fab little Nottingham-based spoken word open mic night with plenty of open mic slots and a featured poet every month! In September, the featured performer is the fantastic Genevieve Carver.
Genevieve is a Sheffield-based poet interested in finding the humanity amidst the chaos. She performs regularly at prestigious events across the country, has supported artists from Buddy Wakefield to Hollie McNish, and since 2011 has been forging a reputation as one of the "leading stars of the northern spoken word scene" (Now Then Magazine). Her show "The Unsung" with a live band won the award for excellence in spoken word at Buxton Fringe, and is running at this year's Edinburgh Fringe.
Arrive from 7:30pm on the night to book your short open mic slot. Poetry, prose, storytelling, acappella singing, and monologues are all welcome. Or you can just come along to listen – everyone's welcome! Entry is £2 per person and refreshments are available.
