April is a great time to get out and discover the gardens, beauty spots and nature reserves in your area. Take a look at our Great Outdoors section for inspiration or plan a perfect picnic with our guide to independent cafes and delis where you can fill your basket and pretty parks nearby. Why not make a day of it with a walk in Highfields Park before taking to the boating lake? The lake re-opens from Saturday 9th April with canoes, row boats and KataKanus available to rent.
For a fun Easter day out with little ones, Rufford Abbey have an eggcellent Easter Egg Hunt trail around the country park - the playground is brilliant too! For the explorers, you can of course still see Titus: T. Rex is King at Wollaton Hall until the end of August for a roarsome time, or head over to the National Justice Museum so your Junior Detective can solve the case of the escaped prisoner!
For older kids and something for the whole family, why not try something a little different like Toy Story in Concert or The Masked Singer Live? A fun day out finished with an evening at one of these is the perfect way to celebrate Easter with family in Nottinghamshire.
