Easter is just around the corner, and with key milestones on the roadmap out of lockdown approaching, we’re all looking forward to brighter times! From 29 March we’re encouraged to ‘stay local’ rather than to ‘stay at home’, and will be able to meet up-to six people outdoors, or in a larger group if everyone present is from two households. So, while Easter 2021 wont’ eggsactly be ‘normal’, it’s a great time to get out and discover the gardens, beauty spots and nature reserves in your area.
As one of the greenest cities in the UK, with a massive 74 Green Flag Award Parks and a county full of lush countryside greener than Robin Hood’s hat, there’s no shortage of places to visit in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. Take a look at our Great Outdoors section for inspiration or plan a perfect picnic with our guide to independent cafes and delis where you can fill your basket and pretty parks nearby. Boating on the lake at Highfields Park reopens on Monday 29 March with Canoes, row boats and KataKanus available to rent.
For a fun Easter day out with little ones, Rufford Abbey have an eggcellent Easter Egg Hunt trail around the country park - the playground is brilliant too! Over at the beautiful Belvoir Castle they have two weeks of Easter activties to enjoy over the school holidays. Discover outdoor trails, solve nursery rhyme puzzles and meet the bouncy easter bunny.
For something a little different why not explore the legendary Sherwood Forest from a completely new perspective? Unleash your inner Tarzan and zip through the forest on a treetop adventure or jump around on jumbo netted trampolines and chill out in tree houses at Go Ape, reopening Monday 29 March.
Available exclusively between 29 March and 11 April 2021, why not book a private Animal Encounter and get to know some of the animals at White Post Farm this Easter? Safe, educational and fun, these interactive 45 minute experiences are available for groups of up to six people and allow you to get up close and personal with your choice of animal for just £25 per session. The 'small animals' encounter where you get to meet bunnies and other cute, fluffy, creatures would make a perfect Easter treat!
If you’re of Christian faith you can still gather in worship this Holy Week and Easter with Southwell Minster’s services, which will also be broadcast online. They also have a range of excellent online spiritual resources.
Have a look at our Virtual Events guide for online fun to enjoy at home and don't forget to check out Nottingham Playhouse's Easter Family Fest for a fun-filled week of online and in-person activities.
