Join us as we look forward to the Easter break in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire from Friday the 29th of March - Sunday the 14th of April! Keep reading for your round-up of eggscellent events and fun finds to keep you and your little ones entertained this holiday.
Spring is a great time to get out and discover the gardens, beauty spots and nature reserves in your area. One of the greenest cities in the UK, with a massive 74 Green Flag Award Parks and a county full of lush countryside greener than Robin Hood’s hat, there’s no shortage of places to visit in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
Take a look at our Great Outdoors page for inspiration, or plan a perfect picnic with our guide to independent cafes and delis where you can fill your basket and pretty parks nearby. Or why not make a day of it with a walk in Highfields Park before taking to the boating lake? The lake usually re-opens from early April with canoes, row boats and KataKanus available to rent.
A time honoured tradition for families come Easter, egg hunts and trails have become some of the most popular staples at this time of year and families won't be dissppointed this year.
Head over the border into Derbyshire and visit Bolsover Castle for their Easter Adventure Quest. Over towards the Lincolnshire border, Belvoir Castle invites families to enjoy the Belvoir Woodland Quest: Bertie Easter Expedition, where your little ones can embark on a magical adventure through the stunning Castle grounds. Alternatively, head to Walesby Forest for their Ultimate Easter Egg Hunt which is sure to keep any little adventurer engaged! And whilst there, why not enjoy some of their other activities such as archery, climbing or water sports? Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre are also hosting their Fairytale Trail, a magical journey that winds through the ancient woodland, encouraging you to find your way through 10 mystical locations. Be sure to come in your most enchanting attire and let the magic of the forest capture your imagination this Easter!
In Nottingham, Green's Windmill have plenty of activities, including their Eggciting Easter Egg Hunt, with lots of hidden eggs and a bumper prize pack!
If it's sweet treats you're after, then when better to be on the lookout than Easter? Nottingham and Nottinghamshire are awash with ways to satisfy your sweet tooth and any chocolatey cravings.
Across the Easter Weekend, Welbeck Abbey's Courtyard will be hosting the Welbeck Easter Food Market, with a handpicked selection of the finest food and drink Nottinghamshire has to offer, with tasty sweet treats, chutneys, cheeses and a range of beverages to choose from, there's something for all.
Similarly, this Easter holiday will see the return of Old Market Square's International Food Market, with stalls hosting an array of sweet delights, including crepes, cheesecake and waffles (with lashings of chocolate of course).
For the grown ups, the Harley Cafe at the Harley Gallery is hosting a wine paring event on Thursday March the 28th. And the best part? You don't have to worry about work the morning after either, as Friday 29th is Good Friday!
If you're looking for a different kind of treat, Gusto Italian will be celebrating the Easter Bank Holiday with a weekend of bottomless brunches and an Easter egg hunt. On Saturday 30th March you will be able to book their £37 bottomless brunch which includes their signature Gusto Dough Petals™, followed by a main course and unlimited Aperol Spritz, Passion Fruit Spritz, Prosecco or Limoncello Sangria for 90 minutes. Join their Easter Egg hunt on Sunday 31st March, where you are invited to find 11 hidden eggs around the restaurant, to be in with a chance of taking home their own chocolate Easter egg.

Holme Pierrepont Country Park are hosting a number of activities this Easter, including a lagoon wipeout. Thoresby Park will be hosting their equestrian spring eventing over the Easter weekend and will also host an Easter Egg Hunt! If you're feeling artsy, Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre will be hosting a Easter Clay Creations Workshop, with the chance to make whimsical characters and designs. This Easter you can also trace the steps of a young Queen Victoria at the Heights of Abraham, offering your little ones the chance to enjoy fancy dress and win a golden Easter egg! Newark will be a hub of activity at the National Civil War Centre for their Easter Family Saturday with egg decorating workshops and more!
Harts Nottingham are hosting a fantastic Easter Baking Competition, with some eggcellent prizes on offer! Any Easter bakes can be entered... cupcakes, cookies, traybakes. Entrants can be any age, and the winners will be chosen for the most creative entry! Prizes include an Afternoon Tea for Two at Harts for the adults and tickets to see The Wizard of Oz at Theatre Royal for the little ones.
