Check out our 2-day Wellbeing itinerary for more ideas on how to unwind in Notts.
Relax
Nottinghamshire boasts some amazing spas, allowing you to decompress and relax in style this January. To relax amongst history, take refuge in Eden Spa - a beautiful listed mansion, built in 1875. If you prefer to unwind in nature, try out MGM Muthu New Leaf Spa nestled in Clumber Park, or enjoy the convenience of a City Centre location at Urban Escape in the Crowne Plaza. Ye Ole Bell Hotel & Spa is also conveniently located just off the A1, and features a thermal area that offers a collection of experiences like no other. These experiences will invigorate, restore and liven your senses or simply help you relax and find your sense of place.
For some relaxing craft experiences, head to one of Debbie Bryan's wonderful sessions to help you unwind and explore your creative side. With a variety of workshop options including mitten making, ring making and purse making options, you’re sure to find something you’ll love. And the best part is, you get to keep everything you make in the end! These are perfect to enjoy either by yourself or bring a loved one to join you.
Get Active
If you're looking for a unique and interesting way to exercise without hitting the gym, why not book yourself on to one of Nottingham's brilliant guided tours to learn all about our fascinating history and heritage while you walk? We recommend joining the Nutty Nottingham Comedy Tour - a 90 minute fun-filled jaunt around the city.
For a more high-energy activity, try out the Beeston Boat & Horses Ceilidh (pronounced 'kay-leas') - an invigorating Scottish dancing experience for all the family, with no previous experience necessary. Or if you’re looking to get active this year, why not try a new cycling route or one of our top Winter walks around Nottinghamshire?
See a show
Nottingham's Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall has some fantastic shows on offer this January. We recommend booking tickets for The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe or The Da Vinci Code – which is one of the most anticipated shows of 2022! Or why not explore something a little different with the Russian State Ballet of Siberia?
Have a laugh
Nottingham also boasts a bunch of renowned comedy this January! Why not book onto one of the Just The Tonic at Metronome gigs and see Lost Voice Guy among other talented comedians. Nottingham Playhouse are also hosting Ed Byrne in January and TV’s Nish Kumar in February for one night only. And don’t forget the Canalhouse Comedy Nights will be going throughout the year as usual.
Health
If you're trying to be a little more health-conscious this January, how about trying your hand at veganism? Of course, Veganuary shouldn't be about depriving yourself of your favourite foods, so why not visit some of your favourite places and try their vegan or vegetarian options? For burgers, visit Annie's Burger Shack and enjoy some delicious vegan or veggie versions of any burger on the menu. Oscar & Rosie’s can cater to any pizza cravings you may have, and in terms of great deals, Las Iguanas are also offering 2FOR1 on their Vegan and Vegetarian mains this January (Sunday-Thursday). Doughnotts are one of the local favourites for vegan desserts, and if you like more international cuisine, look no further than Zaap Thai Street Food, who even offer a separate vegetarian menu for convenience.
