The Bell Inn
Free admission
Nottingham-born author Andy McDermott returns to his home city for the UK launch of his new crime novel, Good Riddance, at The Bell Inn on Wednesday 23 September 2026.
Now based in Australia, Andy will be returning to Nottingham to celebrate the release of a novel closely connected to the city. Good Riddance is set in Nottingham, making the launch a homecoming event as well as an opportunity for readers to discover a new crime story rooted in a recognisable local setting.
The launch will take place upstairs at The Bell Inn on Angel Row, in the heart of Nottingham city centre. The historic pub provides an atmospheric setting for an evening celebrating crime fiction, storytelling and the city that inspired the book.
The event is free to attend and is open to existing readers of Andy McDermott's work, crime-fiction enthusiasts, members of Nottingham's literary community and anyone interested in discovering a locally connected author and novel. Visitors to Nottingham are also welcome to attend and experience a book launch with a strong connection to the city.
The evening will introduce Good Riddance to its UK audience and give attendees the opportunity to hear more about the novel, its Nottingham setting and Andy's experience of returning from Australia to launch the book in his home city.
As well as marking the publication of a new crime novel, the launch celebrates the relationship between storytelling and place. Nottingham is not simply the location of the event, but an important part of the book itself. Holding the UK launch in the city gives local readers and visitors an opportunity to connect the fictional world of Good Riddance with the streets, atmosphere and character of its real-life setting.
The evening also offers a welcoming way to experience Nottingham's local literary culture within one of the city centre's most distinctive historic venues.
Further information about the book, the author and any event updates will be available through Andy McDermott's official channels.
