Heritage Open Days - The Workhouse

About

Saturday 10 September 2016 from 12noon - 5pm

FREE

Discover an important part of Southwell's heritage and follow in the footsteps of the Victorian poor as they sought refuge at The Workhouse. The stories of those who lived and worked here help bring the building to life and prompt reflection on how society has tackled poverty through the centuries.

As elements of ‘Re-imagining The Workhouse’ project come to fruition, visitors will be able to hear a number of Ballad for Southwell pieces developed by creative fellow Chris T-T with input from volunteers and visitors.  A Ballad for Southwell has been created, and is co-ordinated in partnership with curatorial collective CommonAs, supported using public funding by The National Lottery through Arts Council England.

Opening Times: Saturday 10 September: 12noon-5pm (last entry 4pm), Tour at 11am
