Enjoy a unique and satisfying experience making your own stool in the beautiful surroundings of Hanwell Wine Estate. Martin your tutor will share with you his years of carpentry and carving experience and knowledge of tools and materials to use. Starting with raw materials you will work with high-grade leather and hazelwood, learning to whittle, cut and stitch, so by the end of your day you will have made your own useful stool.
What you will learn:
Template and leather cutting
Sewing of leather using saddle stitch
Cut and whittle the legs to shape and size
Safety aspects to use all the tools correctly
Outline of the day
Welcome with light refreshments
Introduction to tools and health and safety; get hands on with your tools
Make a template and cut leather
Break for refreshments
Lunch break – 2 course homemade lunch with a glass of local wine
Make the legs
Refreshments with a snack
Finish the day by relaxing on your stool
