An Introduction to the Portable Antiquities Scheme and Treasure in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire by the Finds Liaison Officer Meghan King is the Finds Liaison Officer for Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, working at Derby Museum and Art Gallery. Her responsibilities include recording small archaeological finds over 300 years old discovered by the public, and reporting and documenting objects that qualify as Treasure under the Treasure Act of 1996. Prior to her current role, which began in January 2021, Meghan worked as a Treasure Registrar for the Treasure Team at The British Museum.

In her talk, Meghan will introduce the Portable Antiquities Scheme and the process for handling Treasure, describe her role, and provide an overview of noteworthy finds from the region. She will also bring her handling collection for attendees to examine typical objects recorded by the scheme.  All are welcome to come along to what promises to be a fascinating evening.
