Service of Thanksgiving
St Mary's in the Lace Market
Sunday 5 June
11am
This special civic service will celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
In the presence of the Lord-Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire, the service will include popular hymns and the anthems "I was Glad" by CHH Parry and "Easter" by Ralph Vaughan Williams, the solo part sung by Benjamin Staniforth, winner of Nottingham Young Musician of the Year, 2021.
Sapphie Johnson, also a finalist in 2021, will perform a violin solo.
There will be first-hand memories of the Coronation in 1953 and from the Royal visit to Nottingham and Mansfield in 1977.
The service will be led by the Bishop of Southwell and Nottingham and the Vicar of St Mary’s, along with the choir of St Mary's.
All are welcome, no tickets needed, masks at individual discretion.
