RSPB Sherwood Forest at Edwinstowe is counting down to the start of the 37th Robin Hood Festival on the 27 July.

The annual celebration of everyone's favourite outlaw gets underway with three days of outdoor movies with Adventure Cinema on 27th July, including not one but two versions of the Robin Hood legend.

The Sherwood Outlaws make their first festival appearance on Sunday 30th July, when the Sheriff of Nottingham invites visitors to scour the forest and Hunt the Outlaw.

The fabulous Knights of Nottingham ride into the forest on 4th August for a whole weekend of their twice-daily spectacular Medieval jousting show. They'll be joined by the hilarious Medieval Maniax, entertainers Bill Brookman, What A Palaver and Nathaniel Bagshot and much more.

The third weekend is devoted to the flora and fauna of Nottinghamshire's only National Nature Reserve, when the RSPB will be joined by other conservation organisations, including the Wildlife Trust and Plantlife, for activities, talks and demonstrations.

Step back to the time of the Wars of the Roses on 19th and 20th August with a host of re-enactment groups heading to Sherwood to recreate one of the bloodiest eras of English history.

The finale takes place on August Bank Holiday Weekend with the superb Sherwood Outlaws taking centre stage again this time in the arena. The Nottinghamshire Day Festival also returns to Sherwood on Saturday 26th August, celebrating all that's great and good about the county.

  • Admission to performances is free, although parking charges will apply and there will be a charge for some activities.
  • Parking charges on 4th-6th August, 19th-20th August and 26th-28th August will be £10 per vehicle per day for all visitors.
  • Tickets must be purchased for each cinema screening.
  • The full programme of films is available at https://www.adventurecinema.co.uk/venues/sherwood-forest
