About

Friday 31st October 2025 | 3pm - 5pm
St Marys Church
Free

Make your own multi-sensory journey through Stretch, an interactive installation by Sophia Clist with Nick Burge.  This showing of Stretch is for SEND individuals and their families only.

A wall made of hundreds of strands of fine shirring elastic under tension, stretching across a space, a sound sculpture, a blank canvas, minimalist and symbolic in appearance. Stretch's many miles of elastic create a permeable threshold or boundary, embracing the architecture of the space it occupies.

The sculpture invites interaction, quietly provoking the viewer into physical engagement, to manipulate it, and to discover its potential to transform and to be transformed.

Stretch is an evolving artwork conceived and designed by sculptor Sophia Clist and developed in collaboration with sound designer Nick Burge. They are joined by performer Jane Mason and musician Theo Jackson Clist.
