This event is free, but normal admission charges apply for the venue.
Built in 1824 The Workhouse at Southwell was a means of relief for the Victorian poor. Pioneering in its design and approach it became a blueprint for similar institutions across the country. Throughout August come along and explore The Workhouse, find find inmates doing their daily jobs, help them work, and learn more about those who lived and worked in this place.
Get involved in a range of immersive events and experiences, inlcuding:
Fridays in August - join an inmate at 11am as they take you for a behind the scenes tour before the site opens at 12noon.
Saturdays in August - pick vegetables with the paupers in the garden.
