Dr Sophia Adams, Curator at the British Museum, examines the significance of ponies in Iron Age Britain.
The image of Boudica charging through London, drawn from ancient texts, shapes our view of the period. However, archaeological evidence, from single finds to harness hoards, reveals a more complex history, highlighting the role of vehicles and the skills of Iron Age craftworkers.
