"The Music Exchange Like a lot of other music fans in the city, I was heartbroken when Selectadisc closed three years ago. Then the good people at local homeless charity Framework decided to start up on new record store, and one that sold brand new vinyl too. What a truly amazing place. Lee Rosy’s Tea Room The Mecca for tea drinkers in Notts. A place to escape to when you want to escape the rabid shoppers on a Saturday. I like to think that I’ve tried most of the tea on the menu, but every time I look through the menu I realise that there are still loads more that I haven’t tried, such is the overwhelming range of their leafy goodness. My current fave is the Hot Spicy Chai. Like a crack den for tea addicts. Also good for small intimate gigs and cake. The Gladstone I’m quite privileged to live a stones throw from this place (hello stalkers!). A decent, no nonsense local boozer that’s tucked away enough and just a bit too far from town to not attract a chatty element. It’s not a gastro pub and it’s not part of a chain. I respect their stubbornness to not accept cards and the only food they serve is baked or fried and comes served in tiny foil packets. I hope it never changes. Mansfield Road I spend half my life walking up and down this road, so much so that I’m afraid that I’ve become one of ‘those’ characters you see populating this vibrant strip of Nottingham. From feral youths to Notts old timers, you see them all. There is also an amazing range of independent retailers; cafes, bookshops, record shops, clothes shops, household goods. That’s not taking into account that some of the city’s best pubs and bars are along this road. The view from the top of the cliff at Nottingham Castle No, not the Castle itself. But the view you get from the top of the cliff when you walk around to the back of the Castle. The best view in Notts.  You can see for miles and I never get bored of looking out and trying to spot familiar places. It’s also an amazing reminder of how green this city actually is. Annie’s Burger Shack at The Navigation The best burgers in Notts? No. The best burgers I’ve had in all of the UK. Words can’t do them justice, so all I say is that you go and visit Annie in her shack and try one. Your life will be a much better place, trust me on this. The Bodega I can’t recall the countless time I’ve attempted to chat up the poor women who run the door on gig nights, it’s embarrassing for everyone involved. Let me take this opportunity to apologise. Sorry. Still a great place to catch loads of up and coming bands and also the current home of the best gig in Nottingham, The Damn You Christmas Covers Party. The Pop Confessional on Friday nights is still the best place to go in Nottingham if you want to dance to Fleetwood Mac, which of course EVERYONE wants to."
