Nottingham’s retailers are gearing up for a pre-Christmas sales boost this October, thanks to an increase in 'Fashionista footfall’ when the city hosts a large-scale Fashion event.

48 Hours of Fashion, taking place in various locations across the city centre on Friday 12 and Saturday 13 October, is an initiative of the Nottingham Retail Business Improvement District (BID). Through an exciting mix of fashion-focused events, performances, demonstrations, makeovers and special offers, its aim is to showcase Nottingham’s impressive range of fashion retailers, bring fashion spending into the city and further strengthen its position as a UK fashion hot spot.

“Nottingham has an unrivalled reputation for the eclectic mix of its fashion retailers and we’re keen to celebrate the fantastic choices we have here – suitable for all styles and pockets,” says Neil Fincham, director of the Nottingham Retail BID and centre manager of The Exchange.

Neil Fincham continues: “The event is already generating excitement among fashion retailers and other complementary businesses such as hair and beauty salons. They recognise that if an influx of visitors in October gets to see first-hand all that we have to offer in the city – from quirky independent stores to flagship national brands – it sets the scene for their return at Christmastime. It’s strategic approaches like this that will strengthen Nottingham as the city of choice for shoppers in the region - driving spending, growth and ultimately a brighter economic future for the retail sector.”
