Fabulous food, great beers and sunshine at the Great Notts Show

The sun shone on Nottingham at the weekend as crowds of people flocked to the Old Market Square where they were treated to a dazzling array of fine food and drink at the Great Notts Show. At the event, which took place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, local artisan producers, brewers and restaurateurs gave visitors a flavour of the best that Nottinghamshire has to offer, while top chefs demonstrated their skills in everything from sausage making to how to cook the perfect curry. There was an opportunity to try dishes prepared by chefs at one of Nottingham's most acclaimed Indian restaurants, MemSaab and the warm, sunny weather meant that the Navigation Brewery's real ale tent and beer garden were a popular choice for many. Among the stalls were two of Nottingham’s speciality coffee roasters, 200 Degrees, which is based at Meadow Lane, and Stewarts of Trent Bridge. In recent years, interest in coffee has surged - and Harry Ford, the sales manager at Stewarts, explained that freshly-roasted beans are the key to a perfect brew. "Stewart has been roasting coffee for over 30 years and we pride ourselves on roasting the best beans in our micro roaster with an artisan approach. "We have a variety of different coffees available to purchase through our online shop, including Stewarts' carefully selected blends and single origin beans from around the world. "Our goal is to roast coffee in small batches, by hand and we only ever roast to order to ensure our coffee reaches you fresh and full of flavour.” As well as food and drink, there was also performance art, live music, arts and crafts and activities for children. Money raised from the event will be donated to the homeless charity Framework and the Children's Air Ambulance. Did you go to the Great Notts Show?
