Independent Nottinghamshire

It's USA Independence Day and to celebrate the 4th July a little closer to home, here's some of Nottingham's best independent shops. Derby Road Just a short walk from Nottingham Playhouse Cast bar and Anish Kapoor's Sky Mirror, you'll find a sophisticated strip of home and garden shops in the Le Chien et Moi,  The Worm that Turned and Brown Dog Interiors, as well as the independent Focus and Hung Up art galleries. Hockley Found in the heart of Nottingham's Creative Quarter, Hockley is made up of boutique shops, vintage stores and chilled out cafes and is one of the most colourful areas of the city. Don't miss Cobden Chambers on your way up from the Old Market Square too; the newly regenerated area is home to some of Nottingham's newest creative businesses and hosts a monthly vintage and antique fair in it's brightly painted surroundings. Lace Market Speciality shops Debbie Bryan and Place 4 both nod to the heritage of the Lace Market area of the city, as well as offering truly one of a kind products and crafts workshops with a contemporary twist. Southwell  The picturesque town is famous for it's iconic Minster. but also boasts a thriving high street of charming shops, completely unique to the the town. The gifts and homewares on sale in A Fly Went By are as good as their prize-winning window displays and Mr and Mrs Fine Wine has a choice of over 200 wines and spirits to browse through. Don't forget to stop in to Reg Taylor's Garden Centre - the 25 acre site is full of beautiful things for your home and garden. Newark The bustling market town is full of quirky shops, including highly reputed antique centres, the only remaining independent bookshop in the area and specialist drink stores in the Real Ale Store and Anne et Vin for an extra special bottle of something.   Foodie If you're in the market for fabulous food, Nottingham has plenty to offer. From traditional Stilton from the Colston Bassett Diary to the delicatessen at Delilah Fine Foods to fabulous sweets from the The Treat Kitchen, you'll find top quality local produce and special treats for guests or just for yourself!
