Planet Bounce, the intergalactic trampoline park in Nottingham city centre celebrated its first birthday on Monday,  with an all-day party fittingly filled with face painting, cakes, a live DJ and, of course, plenty of bouncing. The trampoline park is first of its kind in the area and one year on is proving to be just as popular as ever, having welcomed over 195 thousand jumpers through the doors since opening. Here's how Alistair and Jessie got on when they went to join in the fun.
Alistair What better way to spring into a new week than by visiting Planet Bounce - a fantastic attraction for big and little kids. Turning one this week, the venue offers an intergalactic expedition to a brave new world, where the effects of gravity are greatly reduced - thanks to its bouncy floors and walls. It may have been 10am on a Monday morning, but the party inside was already bouncing when we arrived, with cake, a DJ and strobing lights creating a great atmosphere. alistairWe were chomping at the bit to get started, and following a quick safety brief we were let loose to explore this new planet of adventure. As you may gather from the photos I wasn't quite as graceful as Jessie was in the air, but it was still great fun leaping around like lunatics, and there's no doubt that trampolining is a great way to get active. I'm still trying to work out how the vertical, trampolines built into the walls work, however... As well as the standard trampolines, there were huge, cushioned airbags for daredevils to safely flip through the air onto, and basketball courts for performing the ultimate slam dunks. We decided not to embarrass anyone else with our considerable skills, however, and to give the dodge-ball courts a go instead. Soft balls were flying everywhere as we soared through the air, and we were even joined by a man in a spacesuit, who joined in the fun, lobbing projectiles at us as we attempted to evade them while bouncing around. Having ducked and dived to our hearts' content, it was back down to earth as we emerged blinking into the daylight outside. We'd had a great time, and would definitely recommend giving the universe of Planet Bounce a visit for yourself! Jessie Being let loose on a room made up of over 60 trampolines certainly made for a rather more interesting Monday morning than usual! My first time at Planet Bounce and first time on a trampoline in a long time, it was rather giddily that I swapped my shoes for grip socks and signed myself up for a 10am jump session. jessie The building has an outer space theme, with atmospheric lighting and bright colors set against the dark walls.  The floor itself is made up of a vast main trampoline court, as well areas for dodgeball, basketball, tumble tracks, airbags to dive on and even trampolines up the walls... We started out by finding a quiet corner to test our space legs before tackling anything too ambitious, though the safety video we watched on arrival had already familiarised us with the layout and safety guidelines. We soon got into the swing of things, and even though our bouncing skills weren't quite as spectacular as Alistair's falls or my many misses in our games of dodgeball, it only made our visit funnier! Lots of children have been enjoying trampolining their summer holidays away at Planet Bounce, though there are also jump sessions and exercise classes specifically geared up towards adults - and we can vouch for it being just as much fun for big kids.
