Playing both vocal-led and instrumental work, Awen Ensemble take inspiration from modal tradition, spiritual jazz, and folk music found across the globe, creating compositions that are melodically focused and groove-driven "Brilliant... a really great band" Gilles Peterson, BBC Radio 6

"Absolutely stunning." – Jamz Supernova, BBC Radio 6

Awen Ensemble are a 7 piece alternative folk-jazz outfit. Meaning 'poetic inspiration' in Welsh, the name Awen outlines the band's intention to explore folkloric heritage, landscape and emotional processes through music, inspiring audiences to connect with and reflect on these elements.

Playing both vocal led and instrumental works, Awen Ensemble take inspiration from modal and spiritual jazz traditions as well as British and Irish folk music, creating compositions that are expansive and expressive. Featuring thoughtful musicianship, shimmering instrumentation and a Celtic mystique, they bring a unique offering to the jazz table.

"The folk-jazz revival is most definitely on." – UNCUT Magazine
