Win a Break for Four in Historic Nottingham
Win a trip to discover Nottingham’s most intriguing historical sights!
We all know that Nottingham is famous as the stomping ground of Robin Hood, but what of the city’s rich heritage that is less well-known to many outside? The hand-carved caves beneath streets that inspired infamous rebel writers? The perfectly preserved stately houses and elegant music halls that once entertained the masses?
This Christmas you and three friends will have the chance to win a weekend exploring Nottingham’s most fascinating historical sites. Enjoy two days of delicious food and drink, tickets to exciting attractions and a gorgeous place to rest your head.
Your weekend begins as you check into the De Vere Orchard Hotel, a stylish hotel set in 330 acres of the University of Nottingham’s landscaped parkland. Built to the highest environmental standards, this spacious and serene hotel is just two miles from the city centre and the perfect place to retreat.
Next you’ll head to the Malt Cross, a stunningly unique 19th century music hall tucked away on a city centre side street. On their Guided Heritage Tour, discover tales of stars who have graced its stage, hear about the monks who brewed beer in its cavernous depths, and explore the caves beneath. After the tour you are invited to enjoy a hearty pub meal and a drink in the bar while you plan the next part of your adventure.
In the evening, head to one of the city’s premier escape rooms at Escapologic. In their Robin of Lockskey room, you and your friends will battle the clock to find Robin Hood’s golden arrow by cracking codes and discovering ancient secrets.
The next morning, take a short stroll from your hotel to Wollaton Hall. You may recognise this grand 15th century mansion as Batman’s Wayne Manor in 2012 blockbuster The Dark Knight Rises, but inside lies a cornucopia of history. On a guided tour you will be taken to see impressive views from the rooftop before descending to the tunnels below the house. Afterwards take a stroll around the rolling parkland which is home to grazing deer, get curious in the Natural History Museum, or nip next door to Nottingham Industrial Museum and delve into the city’s history of invention.
