Corto.Alto is challenging the boundaries of contemporary jazz, bringing a fresh perspective to improvisation and electronic production.

The brain-child of award-winning multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer Liam Shortall.

His performance at Metronome forms part of his latest UK tour, supporting the release of his new album 'Bad With Names' which is out Friday 6 October 2023.

The album has received support from Gilles Peterson, Huey Morgan (BBC 6 Music) and Jazz FM.

His latest E.P release 'Not for Now' (Released November 2021) amassed over 1 million streams across digital streaming platforms, as well as receiving multiple plays from Gilles Peterson's show on BBC Radio 2, as well as plays on BBC Radio 6, BBC Radio Scotland, Worldwide FM and more.

corto.alto has also been awarded 'Best Band' and 'Best Release' in the Scottish Jazz Awards in 2020. This release also seen editorial playlist support from Spotify (State of Jazz, Jazz UK, 21st Century, Fusion Fest), Apple Music, Deezer, and magazines such as JazzWise, Disco Pogo, Snack Mag and Jazz Revelations.
