Don Glori
Don Glori has quietly and quickly established himself as an artist on the move; emerging from Naarm's bubbling melting pot of creativity and flung out into orbit.
Don Glori is the moniker of Naarm based multi-instrumentalist Gordon Li. One and a half years on since releasing his debut EP 'Dawn Calling', Don Glori has quietly and quickly established himself as an artist on the move; emerging from Naarm's bubbling melting pot of creativity and flung out into orbit. His highly anticipated debut album 'Welcome' was released via Bedroom Suck Records in October 2022. Aptly titled, 'Welcome' is a kaleidoscopic free dive into the sounds of Don Glori, featuring 8 recordings of revolving jazz, Brazilian, soul and funk inspired compositions spinning together and blurring into a genre bending slew of new music.
Backed by an all-star band, a Don Glori live show is where this project breathes. There is a palpable undercurrent of joy and spirit permeating through the music. This is a band that knows the real power of restraint, expertly riding the waves of tension and cresting along the edge of release – yet doesn't shy away from the raw cocktail of a good smoke machine, sloshing hi-hats and a dirty fuzz pedal. Hard to describe and even harder to forget, there's no wonder that this project continues to capture hearts and pique interest on an international level.
Recent performances include a number of Australian festivals including Dark MOFO, Strawberry Fields, Hopkins Creek, Meadow Festival, and Melbourne International Jazz Festival, as well as supporting the likes of international legends Marcos Valle and Azymuth.
