Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th July | 2025 | 10am-4pm
RSPB Sherwood Forest, Edwinstowe
Free (parking charges apply).
The English Civil War was one of the most volatile periods in our history.
With Oliver Cromwell's Parliamentarian forces pitted against those loyal to King Charles I, Nottinghamshire was a key battleground between roundheads and royalists.
The brilliant John Bright's Regiment of Foote will be in Sherwood Forest for two days of historical re-enactment almost 400 years since real events at nearby Welbeck Abbey, with the Parliament troops seeking the surrender of those defending the monarchy.
The event will evoke the sights and sounds of the mid-1600s, with fabulous attention to detail and the recreation of military drills, with a chance for visitors to get a 'hands-on' history lesson.
