FOLKROOM PRESENTS: Riley Baugus
Riley Baugus represents the very best of old-time American banjo and song. A native of the southern Appalachians, Riley has worked with Willie Nelson and Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, and his music was featured on the BAFTA-winning soundtrack to Cold Mountain.
"Riley Baugus is the latest in a long line of superb North Carolina banjo pickers… Quintessential American old-time music."- Billboard
Riley Baugus represents the very best of old-time American banjo and song. His powerful singing voice and his expert musicianship place him squarely at the forefront of the next generation of the quality American roots tradition.
Riley is a native of the southern Appalachians. His roots lie in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina, and he grew up learning the music and art of storytelling of the region from older musicians in the area. Riley has worked with Willie Nelson and Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, and his music was featured on the BAFTA-winning soundtrack to Cold Mountain.

We are delighted to welcome Riley to Nottingham, and Peggy's Skylight, for his first UK tour in three years. He'll be bringing banjos, ballads, stories and songs of the Southern Appalachians.
Folk music is one of the most interesting art forms in the world – it's different wherever you go, but in a sense it never changes. It's the story of people, and the sound of our social history working its way through the generations. We are privileged to bring one of the great folk artists of the United States over to Nottingham for this very special gig. Come and join us for a rare insight into the music of this most authentic of storytellers.
