Looking for something fun and creative to do this February half term? Families, children and adults are invited to take part in a free spring lantern-making workshop ahead of Newark's Garden of Light event.
The open workshop takes place on Friday 20 February 2026, 10am–3pm, at St Mary Magdalene with St Leonard Church. Led by Lumo Workshop, participants will create illuminated flower lanterns inspired by spring, growth and renewal.
In the run-up to Garden of Light, Lumo will also be visiting local schools and community groups to make lanterns across the town. This session at St Mary Magdalene with St Leonard Church is the open workshop for everyone, suitable for all ages from 5 to 100. Children and adults are encouraged to take part together, with no previous experience needed.
Those who attend the workshop will be invited to bring their lanterns back and take part in the Bloom Parade, which will feature later in the evening during Garden of Light on Saturday 7 March, adding a shared moment of light and colour to the town centre event.
All materials will be provided, and the session will take place in a relaxed, welcoming and accessible environment.
Garden of Light takes place from 6pm–9pm in Newark Market Place and is free to attend, with no booking required.
Places are limited and allocated on a first-come basis. Booking is required – please book in advance.
