JFOLKROOM PRESENTS: Sarah Jane Scouten
Singer-songwriter Sarah Jane Scouten hails from the west coast of Canada, but lives in a small village in Scotland. She may just be the finest Americana performer this side of the Atlantic. "An agile voice...and love for classic country, indie pop, and everything in between." - American Songwriter
"An agile voice, ruminative songwriting, and love for classic country, indie pop, and everything in between"- American Songwriter
"Stan Rogers was able to do it, Ron Hynes was able to do it, Kate McGarrigle was able to do it – and Sarah Jane Scouten is able to do it." – Tom Power, CBC
Singer-songwriter Sarah Jane Scouten may hail from the west coast of Canada, but she's spent much of the last decade living in a small village in Scotland and touring the wider UK. She's never lost her ear for the sounds of North America, though, and remains perhaps the finest Americana performer this side of the Atlantic.
Scouten returns to Nottingham to play Peggy's Skylight this August, bringing music from four critically acclaimed albums and her brand new EP, The Sweetest Homewrecker, which offers perhaps her most accomplished songwriting to date, as well as a distinct move towards a more country-tinged sound.
A four-time nominee at the Canadian Folk Music Awards, International Folk Music Awards, and Western Canadian Music Awards, Sarah Jane's music captures the essence of timeless folk and Americana while exploring deeply personal themes of love, loss, and transformation.
Join us at Peggy's this August to rediscover the finest Canadian export since Jim Carrey!
