Lee Jones Quartet
Lee Jones reunites with legendary bassist/vocalist Tom Hill honouring the giants of classic jazz guitar from the 1950s & 60s including Wes Montgomery and Barney Kessel through to more contemporary artists, with a soulful, blues-inflected passion throughout.
"an excellent composer and one heck of a guitarist" – Larry Coryell
Lee Jones is a British-Australian jazz guitarist and composer, combining influences from modern jazz, fusion, blues, avant-garde and rock styles. Lee has regularly performed throughout the UK scene and recorded/performed/studied alongside Larry Coryell, Martin Taylor and Mike Stern. Since graduating from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Jazz Course in 2007, he has released seven solo albums with former WEA producer Simon Tittley and in 2019 completed a PhD in music composition at the University of Salford, Manchester, 'Exploration of Unorthodox Tunings and Muscle Memory Practice for the Electric Guitar'. Lee's back catalogue has featured throughout the UK jazz media, including as part of a one hour programme on Jazz FM radio.
In 2020, Lee released his Ebook entitled '100 Examples for the Modern Intermediate and Advanced Guitarist'. Lee now resides in Australia where he is active in live performance, recording and music education/research. Lee released his latest solo guitar project, 'A World Away', in late 2023 and was a finalist in the 2025 Made in New York Jazz Competition, winning the category for Best Solo Instrumentalist.
Following a successful Australian touring run throughout 2025-2026, Lee will be returning to the UK for the first time in two years for a short tour in January 2027 before performing a short tour of South Korea later in the same month. Lee is also currently preparing a new original music recording release for 2027 featuring top Melbournian jazz musicians before finally heading out for a repeat tour of Japan later in 2027 as part of nationwide solo jazz guitar tour.
Alongside his work as a performer and educator, Lee is also a prolific composer and is currently establishing the Jones Music House, an independent music library specialising in original world fusion production music and will be launching this project as an online platform in the coming 12-18 months.
