'Major Ruse Curates' – Ben Nobuto
For the third of the Major Ruse Curates series, the dynamic contemporary jazz quartet (Ronnie Scott's, Love Supreme Festival) are joined by the incredible Ben Nobuto. 'Completely original, and often totally disorientating'
Ben Nobuto is a British/Japanese composer and pianist whose music combines speed and intensity with a genre-fluid approach to composition, weaving together influences from classical, jazz, glitch, IDM, hyperpop and experimental music into a surreal and saturated soundworld. Described as 'completely original, and often totally disorientating' (Manchester Collective), his music has been performed at venues such as Royal Festival Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall and The White Hotel. He's currently working towards a debut album, which will be released in late-2023.
Major Ruse are a Midlands-based jazz quartet that are heavily influenced by hip-hop, metal and electronic music, combining styles in order to create something original, complex and exciting.
Weaving intricate, often soulful melodies with driving rhythms, pushing dynamic changes and engaging musical narratives, this quartet featuring Marcus Joseph on saxophone, Joe Egan on guitar, Jack Benjamin on bass and Jamie Sykes on drums stretches jazz into bizarre new areas.
Having performed at Love Supreme, We Out Here, Manchester jazz Festival, Ronnie Scott's and many more iconic festivals and venues, Major Ruse continue to engage bigger audiences and move from strength to strength.
