Inspired by Wayne Shorter, Miles Davis, Terence Blanchard, David Axelrod, Holst and more, Mama Terra make music where fear, beauty and stillness coexist. "I knew this was going to be good but I never dreamed that it would be this good!… We were in awe of the sheets of sound that were enveloping us." – Bebop Spoken Here
"Bursts with zeal and vigour." – MOJO Magazine ★ ★ ★ ★
Mama Terra is the brainchild of Glaswegian pianist and composer Marco Cafolla, whom, along with co-bandleader and saxophonist Konrad Wiszniewski, upright bassist Ross Saunders, drummer Doug Hough, trombonist Mikey Owers, and vocalist Rachel Lightbody, create the remarkable sound that has seen the group acclaimed throughout the past three years, since their debut album.
Inspired by Wayne Shorter, Miles Davis, Terence Blanchard, David Axelrod, Holst, Kamasi Washington, John & Alice Coltrane, Andre 3000, Scott Walker, Don Ellis, Mama Terra make music for the Eye of the Storm – where fear, beauty and stillness coexist.
Mama Terra are hotly tipped by JazzFM, and are signed to legendary London label Acid Jazz Records. 'Inner Space' was recorded between Glasgow, Los Angeles & Brooklyn. It expands on the themes started on 'The Summoned', exploring and celebrating what we are and can be! An inward journey personally, mirroring the themes of self discovery of who we are and what lives on 'Mama Terra'.
"This is the kind of, 'If this is jazz, then I like it' music that will make a lot of friends in live performance." – Jazzwise
