Eva Clarke BEM presents her and her mother Anka's extraordinary story of survival, reflecting this years Holocaust Memorial Day theme: "Bridging Generations." Includes reflection,prayer and candle-lighting. Reccomended 14+

The theme for Holocaust Memorial Day 2026,’ Bridging Generations’, is a reminder that the responsibility of remembrance doesn’t end with the survivors, it lives on through their children, their grandchildren and through us all. This theme encourages us all to engage actively with the past – to listen, to learn and to carry those lessons forward. By doing so, we build a bridge between memory and action, between history and hope for the future.

Eva Clarke BEM will be joining to offer her remarkable story of both her Mother’s survival and her own. Eva Clarke was born in 1945, on a coal wagon at Mauthausen concentration camp. Her mother, Anka, had survived Theresienstadt Ghetto, Auschwitz, forced labour, and a 17 day journey on cramped wagons without food or water. Just 3 days after Eva's birth, Mauthausen was liberated by the US Army. Eva's testimony shares the incredible details of both herself and her mother's lives, before, during, and after the Holocaust. 

The National Holocaust Museum will be offering a moment of reflection, a Jewish prayer and a candlelighting ceremony after Eva has told her incredible story to remember those who lost their lives in the Holocaust.
