About

Sunday 21 September 2025 | 1pm - 2:30pm
National Holocaust Museum
Adults £10 | Concessions £9 | 8-17 year olds £7.50

Join the National Holocaust Museum on Sunday 21 September for a special community talk with Laura Burrill, who will present her project, The 80 Candles Quilt.

This unique quilt is a collaboratively created memorial, representing the stories of 80 individuals affected by the Nazi regime. Developed by Community Arts Practitioner Laura Burrill of Every Stitch A Story, the project seeks to humanise the victims of mass genocide, encourage education through personal research, deepen understanding of the breadth of persecution, and inspire active compassion to create positive change.

Laura will return to the Museum to share the journey of the community workshops that led to the creation of the quilt, marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau. Visitors will have the opportunity to view the finished quilt, hear about the lives commemorated within its panels, and learn more about the communities who contributed to this moving project.
