Sunday 29 March 2026 | 2pm - 4pm
Peggy's Skylight
Tickets: £8 - £12
This popular 17-piece big band makes a welcome return to Peggy's following their sell-out performances in 2025. Regulars on the local jazz circuit for the past 20 years, their toe-tapping vocal and instrumental classics are perfect for a laid-back Sunday afternoon.
The Shipstone Street Jazz Orchestra was formed in 2005 and has been entertaining Nottingham audiences with their toe-tapping swing and Latin for the past 20 years. Initially based at The Lion at Basford, they acquired their name from nearby Shipstone Street. Following lockdown they moved to a larger rehearsal hall in Bilborough.
They are regulars on the local jazz circuit, including playing The Lion's Sunday jazz café, opening Wollaton Hall's new concert series in 2024 and making their debut at Peggy's Skylight early in 2025 and performing again in the summer. Following their two sell-out gigs, they are delighted to have been invited back!
Previous bandleaders have included Paul Deats, who left in 2019 to establish Peggy's, followed by Andrew 'Woody' Wood.
The current bandleader is Tony Lovell from Nottingham Music Hub, and the younger players have been recruited from the Hub's Robin Hood Youth Orchestra, joining the older and longer-standing members. Vocalist Sandy Bailey completes the line-up.
