Have you ever stood in a forest and marvelled at how nature is a dynamic force, full of diversity and creativity? If you learn to listen, this can benefit your writing, creativity and wellbeing.

In this 2-part workshop, you will explore some of the Think like a Tree natural principles - nature’s secrets to success, growth, healthy and vitality.

As living beings, these can help wellbeing, growth, creativity and balance.

Nature-connection and writing activities will be included within the sessions, along with activities to take away to deepen your learning. This will benefit all styles and genres of writing.

Bring a notebook, a pen and an open mind, ready to listen to the wisdom of the forest.

Like you, every tree in a woodland is unique, so this process allows you to find your own unique way, guided by natural wisdom...

Though the workshop will take place online, from your first session you will be given instruction and techniques to use outside in nature, at a time and place of your convenience. This experience and any arising questions can then be shared and developed in the following session.

Learning Goals:

Deepen your connection with nature; discover which of the natural principles can benefit your wellbeing and your writing; connect with nature to kick-start the creative process; learn about emergence – a living-systems phenomenon that sees new life (eg new writing) emerge; learn how to ‘fertilise the soil’ to create the right conditions for your writing.

Sarah Spencer:

Sarah Spencer, author of Think like a Tree: The natural principles guide to life and Inspired by Trees: creative workbook, is passionate about trees, has created a woodland and forest garden and studied permaculture. She lives with chronic illness and uses nature’s principles everyday in every aspect of life, sharing the wisdom of nature through courses and workshops. A network of Think like a Tree facilitators now share nature’s wisdom throughout the UK. In 2023 Think like a Tree was shortlisted for the International Lush Spring Prize for its training and consultancy work with individuals and organisations.
