Sunday 12th March | 2023 | From 1pm
The National Holocaust Centre & Museum
From £7.50
Professional poet Amina Atiq will read her poem ‘White Roses’ and we will be hearing Holocaust survivor Simon Winston’s response to this beautiful piece of work. We will also be joined by Holocaust Survivor Ruth Schwiening. Simon and Ruth will each take to the stage to listen to the creative writing that they inspired and interact with the authors.
Ruth will also discuss her artwork in broken glass inspired by the poem White Roses.
We are thrilled to be joined by the cast of ‘Broken Instruments’ who will be performing ‘Six Million White Roses’ the beautiful, original song that they have composed inspired by our Memorial Gardens.
Throughout the day there will be the opportunity to visit the Digital Installation which houses stories written by professional writers including Michel Rosen, as well as Amina, inspired by people, places and events across the UK relating to the eventsof WW2 and the Holocaust as part of a Second World War and Holocaust Partnership with the Imperial War Museum.
What happens when we hear these stories? What happens when people aren’t here to tell their stories? How will we listen and to whom?
The museum will be open from 10am - 4.30pm.
