The "Yvonne Barrie Quintet" are delighted to make their debut at Peggy's Skylight! With a stellar Midlands based rhythm section, dynamic tunes from the jazz repertoire, as well as some more left-field material, YBQ deliver a unique listening experience.

Husband and wife team Yvonne and Bruce have recently returned from living in Asia for more than a decade, where they have been performing with the "Yvonne Barrie Quintet" at jazz clubs, festivals and prestigious venues, as well as featured on RTHK (Hong Kong's English Medium TV channel). They have now re-formed the YBQ to bring their unique sound to the UK, building on their earlier successes with the band.

Now with a stellar Midlands based rhythm section of Tom Dring on bass (Emma Smith, Ronnie Scott's All Stars), Nathaniel Coxton on piano (BBC Young Composer of the Year ) and Luca Melidone on drums, the quintet are currently establishing themselves in the area as an exciting and unique vocal led jazz band.
They have been performing to sold out crowds in venues such as Dubrek Studios and No. 28, Belper. The Quintet deliver dynamic and considered versions of songs from the jazz repertoire, as well as some less obvious choices. From Cole Porter to Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell, via traditional English folk tunes peppered with a bit of Radiohead, they never fail to leave audiences wanting more. With the unique familiar interplay between Yvonne's rich vocals and the warm sonorous timbres of Bruce's saxophone, the band will take you on a memorable jazz journey.
