In Notts we love vintage nostalgia, so in honour of the 1940s Knees Up taking place this weekend at the Museum of Nottingham Life, we’ve gathered together some vintage inspiration, for those who like to reminisce of times gone by. Whether you’re after the glamour, music or history of a bygone era, you’ll be spoilt for choice in Nottinghamshire. 1940s Knees Up, Monday 6 May, Museum of Nottingham Life Nottingham’s ever popular WWII event returns this bank holiday Monday, taking place 11am – 3.30pm on Monday 6 May. The 1940s Knees Up is packed full of activities and entertainment bringing the war days of the 1940s back to life and conjuring an atmosphere of the time. See swing dance displays, sing along to old favourites, play traditional street games, and don't miss the chance to meet veterans and the heroes and heroines of the home front in authentic surroundings. Dressing in your favourite 1940s frock is definitely encouraged! Admission is £5 for adults, £3 for concessions and children (under 16 years) £2. Vintage and Handmade Craft Fair and Picnic, 19 May, Creswell Crags Whether your favourite era is the swinging sixties, the roaring twenties or the fabulous forties, head to the Creswell Crags Vintage and Handmade Craft Fair and Picnic and celebrate all things vintage on Sunday 19th May 2013 from 11 until 5pm at this fabulous, free, family event. Bring a picnic blanket, or treat yourself at the vintage tearoom on site. Wear your vintage finest, have your hair and make-up done vintage style, browse the stalls from across the region, and enjoy vintage music and beautiful classic cars, as well as traditional family games. FREE. Miss Nightingale: The Burlesque Musical, 23 – 25 May, Theatre Royal Nottingham Sex, scandal and showbiz in 1940s London. This engaging musical by Matthew Bugg follows the story of a Yorkshire lass who moves to London in search of fame and fortune in the 1940s. Featuring 20 original numbers and starring burlesque bombshell Amber Topaz, Miss Nightingale – the burlesque musical, brings the vintage glamour of war-torn London thrillingly to life. This promises to be a very glamorous night at the Theatre Royal in Nottingham. Tickets range from £14 to £23.   Antique Fair, 6 & 7 June, Newark Showground The Newark International Antiques and Collectors Fair is the largest event of its kind in Europe. If you’re looking for a relic from the past to adorn your home, or would just like to wander the stalls for inspiration, you’re sure to find what you’re looking for at this huge event. The fair attracts thousands of dealers and buyers from around the globe, who knows what treasures you might uncover? Admission is £20 on Thursday 6 June (allows entry on both days), or just £5 per person on Friday 7 June.  Best dressed Looking for the perfect vintage outfit?
