My favourite spots in Nottinghamshire by Robyn Pond

This week we are sharing Robyn Pond’s favourite places in Nottinghamshire. Robyn's paintings are largely based on local Notts nature and beauty spots, and are available to purchase via  Verdant Wildlife.   Clumber Park I've spent many childhood days at Clumber Park, it’s got so much to it that it stayed one of my ‘go to’ places for a day out well into adulthood. There’s always something to do there such as having a picnic by the river or indulging in a walk (or cycle, if you choose to hire a bike) through the woodland, which is especially beautiful in autumn and would make the perfect setting for a painting! There’s also a fabulous Walled Kitchen Garden and plenty of wildlife to spot. The ducks are usually pretty well fed though so don’t be surprised if they shun your bread.   Homemade I’ve only been here twice but it’s fast becoming a favourite. I took some friends here the second time I went, and they were in enthusiastic agreement about the place.  Their baked potato wedges are a personal love of mine and of course you can’t forget to try one (or more!) of the many cakes, which are lovingly displayed in the window, and are certain to invite you inside even if you weren’t previously hungry! The café has a quaint and cosy feel with its walls covered in chalkboards and tables covered in gingham, which has made me want to linger even after I’ve finished eating.   Limehouse Café/ The Harley Gallery This place has always seemed quite hidden away , yet still manages to attract a lot of outside attention and for good reason! The Limehouse Café, which has won awards, has friendly staff, excellent service and delectable food, all within a vibrant, contemporary setting. The Gallery right behind the café is a hidden gem too. There is always something on display that will engage the senses and when you’ve finished being inspired, you can also support the on-site artists by buying their wares in the shop!
